Chris Ward, Partner
Chris has been with Summit Law LLP since it was formed in 2008. His focus is insolvency, disqualification of directors, debt collection, and corporate recovery.
In the I&R Rescue Awards 2015, Chris was a finalist for the ‘Insolvency Rising Star’ award.
He used to be a senior examiner in the Insolvency Service, where he undertook bankruptcy investigations on behalf of the Secretary of State. This means he has a good relationship with the Official Receiver and gives him unique insight into how ‘the other side’ will behave. As a result, he has acted for and against insolvency practitioners in many high-profile bankruptcies.
For example, he has advised trustees in bankruptcy for cases against trading banks, a Primary Trust GP practice, and celebrities from the worlds of sport and entertainment.
He achieved his law degree at the Anglia Ruskin University, followed by a legal practice course at the University of Westminster. During this time, he also worked for local government.
His top tip to clients is: “Fire prevention is better than firefighting, so talk to us early. Know what you are up against and take preventative advice.”
Outside work, Chris is an ardent and loyal fan of West Ham United. With a young family, he also enjoys cycling and going to the theatre – even if it’s to see Peppa Pig.
Aged three, Chris appeared on the Wish You Were Here TV show hosted by Judith Chalmers, as he waited with his family in a queue at Gatwick airport.
